Jojo Rabbit Collage

Collage Art
A hand-cut collage made in response to Jojo Rabbit — a film of profound contradictions.

The visual language mirrors the tension at the heart of the story: romantic pastels and earth tones colliding with bold primary reds and yellows, children alongside Nazi officials, Hebrew text placed deliberately next to the Berlin Holocaust Memorial, coming out of Hitler’s mouth, who is ironicaly masked with the phrase “human rights” and in wearing the iconic Jojo Rabbit bunny ears.

'Heroes' rendered in the graphic language of propaganda — because in Jojo's world, the villains believed they were the heroes. Hence why a Nazi soldier, masked with the word “Empathy” is shooting a Ziggy Stardust lightning bolt out of his gun.

The Bowie reference at the bottom nods to the song recorded in Berlin that closes the film- one of my personal favorite endings of perhaps any movie.
